Fabricated bottom attach strips R-918. Disassembled the rudder and started deburring and edge smoothing. Will do dimpling next.


The bottom edge of the rudder skin is aligned with the center line of the bottom attachment strip, this will give right edge margin for the holes. The strip is positioned so there will be no interference with the rudder horn brace if vibration causes out of plane motion of the attachment strip


Bottom attachment strips R-918 are fabricated


Before disassembling, the three aft most holes on top edge of the rudder skins are drilled to #30 size and marked for dimpling. It will be very difficult to dimple later for top rudder tip attachment if everything is riveted together because the access space is limited at this area
