09-12-2011:

I felt sick this morning so I called in sick. However, I felt better in the afternoon and the best usage of the time would be in the garage. I made the walkway doubler for the right wing. I had to trim both the width and length (9.375" x 26"). Then I used the skin to drill the holes on the doubler. When fitting the skin to the skeleton, I realized that the outboard skin actually overhangs over the tip rib. So I had to cut a groove on the support arm to allow this overhang. The groove didn't look good but served its purpose. I am not trying to make the stand/jig perfect, because all alignment will follow the pre-punched holes on the skin and ribs, spars. Finally, I have both top and bottom skins fitted to the skeleton for match drilling.

The doubler is 9 3/8" x 26", and 9/16" away from the front edge of skin W702

For rear spar support, I had to re-do it like this to allow skin overhang

For front spar, I had to cut a groove on the wooden arm to allow overhang

Bottom skins are fitted, all holes line up perfectly
