11-16-2011: Fuel Tank 1g Downward Load

Loading:

21 gal of fuel = 21*6 = 126 lbs for 1g load, 126 lbs is applied as pressure to bottom surface of the fuel tank


Boundary Conditions #1:

-All screw locations attaching fuel tank to spar are fixed in all three directions

- Fuselage attaching bracket is fixed in all three directions

- Screws attaching to leading edge are fixed in all three directions

-Z bracket to spar attaching points are fixed in all three directions


Loads at screws are shown below. Maximum force is about 37 lbs, shear, under 1g. Assuming 6g, the force will be 222 lbs.



Loads at rivets are shown below. Maximum force at rivets under 1g is about 19 lbs. 120 lbs for 6g.




Boundary Conditions #2:

-All screw locations attaching fuel tank to spar are fixed in all three directions

- Fuselage attaching bracket is fixed in all three directions

-Z bracket to spar attaching points are fixed in all three directions


Reactions load: 77 lbs max. shear under 1g, 462 lbs for 6g

Rivet loads: 43 lbs max. shear for 1g, 258 lbs for 6g
