With help from two young fellows, both wings are mated to fuselage for the last time. I used two drift pins to lock the wings in position first, then insert the close tolerance bolts. Then replaced the drift bolts with close tolerance bolts one by one. The close tolerance bolts were spayed with WD-40 as lubricant for easy insertion. The top two close tolerance bolts were driven in easily with a small hammer and a wooden block. Due to the space limitation on the lower bolts, I had no space for wooden block so I just tapped them in using hammer with the hammer headed covered with ducting tape so I won't damage the bolt head. I only drove the lower bolts deep enough so I can put the nut and washer one, then torque the bolt to get the bolt in all the way. This worked well. I accidentally hit the spar web a few time, missing the bolt head, but there is no visible mark on the spar. The ducting tape worked here.
When the 4 big bolts (each side) were in, I installed the 4 smaller close tolerance bolts. To my surprise, in the eight bolts, only 6 of them are close tolerance bolts, the other 2 are regular AN bolts. I couldn't find any in the hardware bags. I guess Van's may have mis-shipped the bolts, I will have to order some. Other than this, the wing installation when well over all.
