EAA had a project visit today, great to see some rare antique airplanes being re-built. After that, some time in the shop for my own airplane. I fabricated spacers, the stiffener at bottom edge of firewall recess (stiffen p/n F-601E-1), brake bracket F-601TD, and aux fuel pump firewall doubler F-601Z. I got the edge of firewall all smoothed as well. This task takes a bit time because the firewall is harder than aluminum.

I have some question regarding the brake bracket and the fuel pump double. For the brake bracket, I am not sure if I need to drill the 7/16" holes on the firewall, the construction manual doesn't mention this. For the fuel pump doubler, also not sure if I need to drill the holes on the firewall. It makes sense to me to drill it now, but I'd better read the plan and other builders' site to be sure. Oh well, will continue on that tomorrow.

Spacer fabricated

Stiffener F601E-1 fabricated

The doubler is taped in place, so it won't move when clamping the F601J for match drill

F601J is clamped to be match drilled

Match drilling F601J

Brake fitting doubler is fabricated

Aux fuel pump doubler is cut, but it is not needed if FI engine will be used
