11-09-2011:

Today I was a little nervous, didn't want to mess up the position/fitting of the fuel tank to other parts because the leading edge is permanently riveted to the spar. I followed Van's instruction, started drilling the most inboard Z bracket using the spar as a guide. This is a little hard because the nutplates are already installed to the spar, the access is not great. I had to drill the hole through the nutplate using a #40 drill bit, then took the Z bracket off, and drill the hole to #12. The holes are slightly off center, but it should be OK.

Then I finished deburring the ribs, and clecoed them to the baffle, started final drilling rib, baffle, and Z bracket together. I didn't drill the most outboard rib together with baffle and Z bracket because there is no access to it (I can't remove the leading edge), so I just drilled the baffle and Z bracket at that location, and will drill the rib together with the baffle. This should work well.

Ribs are fluted

Ribs are clecoed to the baffle and Z brackets for final drill

The most outboard Z bracket doesn't get the rib. Because the rib will block the access to drill the holes. The baffle and Z bracket will be drilled together, the rib will be drilled later on with the baffle

Rib/baffle/Z bracket are match drilled, except the most outboard rib
