11-12-2011:

I took baffle and Z brackets off the spar, and clecoed skin, ribs, baffle together for final drill. After that, the skin to baffle rivets holes are machine countersunk. I then clecoed the Z brackets on with clecos inside the tank. I need the clecos on the inside in order to put the whole assembly on the spar for final adjustment on fitting with LE. Because the LE is permanently riveted to the spar, I had to do it this way. I had to took most the clecos on the top skin in order to cleco on the Z brackets from inside.

After putting the clecoed tank assembly on the spar, I found that I need to trim the skin about 1/16" to have the nutplate on the Z brackets to align with the holes on spar. It took me a while to get this done. But the end results look pretty good. I got the the tank to fit with LE just fine. That is one thing I worried about most because the LE is permanent on. Now I can relax a little bit.

I clecoed the Z bracket on (from inside) so I can position the entire fuel tank assembly

The fit between the fuel tank and leading edge skins looks good

The screw holes lined up good, so far so good
