11-15-2011:
Started with drilling the tank to fuselage attaching bracket fabricated earlier. However, one hole was drilled to close to the angle radius and the rivet won't sit flat. I plugged this hole using a flush head solid rivet, and drilled another hole between the plugged hole and adjacent hole. The hole distance is 4R, meeting the general rule of thumb for hole spacing. I will do a strength check to be sure.
Continued working on the reinforcement ring. Drilled the screw holes on the inboard rib, and clecoed on the ring, drilled the rivets for nutplate. After that dimpled the rib, and machine countersunk the ring. Have all nutplates riveted to the ring and inboard rib. The drawing calls for rivet AN426AD3-4.5, the part list for the right fuel tank only included -4 rivets. The -4 rivet set just fine for riveting the nutplates so I went ahead using them.
